LEGO Spider-Man Mech + Spiderjet vs. Venom Mech reviews! 76146 + 76150

hey in this video we’re gonna be looking
at two separate Lego Marvel related sets that go together very very well on the
left just this one thing just this is the spider-man mech set and it is cheap
and relatively uncomplicated easy quick to put together and very accessible and
then all the rest of the stuff all that there is the spider jet vs. venom mech
set so you put these two together you end up with mech versus mech don’t get
too caught up on the fact that these are mixed or the fact that they are called
mechs let’s take a closer look at these I’m gonna start with the bigger set
first this is the second quote-unquote venom mech that Lego has released in the
past year and like with the other one which was much larger than this you
don’t have to call the whole thing a mech if you don’t want to if you want
this to be an actual mekin actual robotic you know suit in your head Canon
then let it be but if you want to just see all of this as the the symbiote
itself just biomass then let that be you know just the way things are for you I
think that makes perfect sense here probably makes more sense a lot more
sense than calling it a mech and you know you see the head of venom right
there and the rest is just his body that’s grown out this is pretty small
relative to the size of a mini figures I’ve just got Spidey handy here you know
just imagine being a mini figure and looking up at that you know for for a
lego thing this is kind of small but relative to the figures it’s pretty
massive and this one is just full of joints it has so many our articulation
points on it and they use ball joints everywhere so you can pose this just
about any kind of way you want to think I can quickly and easily get this to
pose there you go on one foot the feet are la are large enough long enough to
have some good good stability let me see if I can get these arms forward get a
couple of them back it’s not necessarily the right way to do it but they’re
pretty easy to get this into a fantastic very dynamic action pose and I love that
that is just great that’s all I can ask where it has actual working
nice you can just hold on to a foot and then just put it into a pose and it just
stays leave the Hat it’s it’s good it’s it’s really good I am very satisfied
with this the two left arms are the same as each other
so you just build them together the two right arms are the same you got the
shoulder there you got kind of an elbow here and the joints are oriented in a
way that makes sense that gives you a good amount of articulation you have the
wrist as well so you can move this all around and even have fingers and unable
to grab all the way but they do have studs in the palm so you can attach
things to that like for instance you could have this you can imagine it
grabbing a figure such as you know just there in a involved in a battle there
you go it’s now grabbing and you can bring the fingers around if you want to
have one arm of the minifig up or something like that you know I haven’t
hold him upside down or whatever it’s just very convenient and anything that
will attach to studs can be attached in that way so just in general I feel like
this is a success whether you want to see it as a mech or you want to see the
whole thing as venom itself there you go it’s pretty well covered I think they
could have put just one more piece in this right there though and inverted 2
by 2 tile round tile I think would have helped a lot back there but as it is the
colors or the lack thereof works out you can kind of open up this cage imagine
that being like bone or cartilage tissue you can just pull this down and then you
get easy access to the actual minifigure inside so you can use that separately or
just imagine it all being one single mass the spider jet from the spider jet
vs. venom neck set well is it really necessary for spider-man because
spider-man can just you know throw his webs around and everything well it is
for the sake of plain kids like to play with things not just figures you know
they like vehicles and planes and helicopters and bikes and stuff and
these things do sell and that’s why companies keep making toys like this
however specifically this one is being paired up with spider-man
new are there we’ll take a closer look at the minifigures later helps us to
make a little bit of additional sense with all the weapons this is a bank of
firing flick fire missiles using the relatively new I think it’s about one
year old now pack of extra pieces that look like realistic warheads and
grenades and things and they’re a bunch of spares leftover as well you fire all
of those together by pushing on this interesting mechanism here I mean that’s
a that’s a little container piece but you just push on that and all of these
fire off simultaneously which is convenient for just a barrage of fire
and then on this side you have to disc launcher stacked on top of each other
with the same type of firing mechanism those fire off at the same time oh no
supposed to be at the same time I had a misfire there there we go there goes the
other yeah that was just a misfire and you can reload those with this door this
is cool puts a little bit of extra yeah just a little extra texture on the side
but you can ensure that you’ve put this in just the right amount because you
don’t want to go too far with it and see from the side or just do it by by feel
there you go that’s just right there should be a little bit loose this can be
seen as a remote gun kind of like the the nose gun on a Apache gunship or
something like that looks like the the canopy is not down all the way right now
and that’s because I haven’t put the figure in all the ways is laser not stud
it down all the way I really like these wings back here the whole thing doesn’t
look entirely aerodynamically feasible this part back here does but then the
front doesn’t I could just imagine there being a lot of weight here so it doesn’t
make that much sense to me but I think without this I do like that
extreme angle that they have for these very simple wings it’s just two vertical
stabilizer pieces and you have a single outlet there you can imagine that being
like a rocket booster they usually can change the angles of if you want I think
they look best in the v-tail configuration and then for the cockpit
this is actually pretty good that’s a sticker right there that’s a
sticker right there forgot to mention on the front of the venom mech that is a
print hey hey print
I always like to see prints but all the other decorations you see here are
stickers but inside this cockpit it’s actually pretty good you see I have that
figure in there loosely you can put it down all the way I personally don’t
recommend it because if you do push a figure down all the way then there’s a
chance that their legs will stay behind when you try to pull them up so that’s
one thing that they didn’t do perfectly here although I could lean the figure in
a little bit farther and not attach it but I wanted to point out here is the
fact that you have a a nice console with two printed pieces there and that looks
pretty nice and pretty appropriate though this top one was intended to
represent like a call center computer screen at a firehouse or something and
then this bottom one is CEQA is controls for a space elevator something like that
the two together as they’re done I think looks very nice and that’s pretty much
it for the spider jet nothing to see on the underside really no landing gear or
anything that’s that lastly the set comes with a little safe and Oh looks
like I put the sticker on a little bit crooked I’ll have to fix that
oh no it’s off by almost a full degree that’s really bad well this has just a
little grappling hook attachments on it the chain thing and you just imagine
venom grabbing onto this and then just stealing it away for whatever reason has
some stuff inside so you have just a couple of gold ingots that are just
molded in that pearl gold color and then one single they got cheap this time just
one single 100 denomination bill Tibet they didn’t include more stuff but I
guess it I guess it does a trick looking at this sets figures we get Spider Man
on the Left spider-man noir in the middle and the mini version of venom on
the right just now pretty plain so on the left the spider-man gets the dual
molded legs spread around more uh hmm I feel like just the fact that it exists
in official form from Lego and just a regular set you can get you know not a
convention exclusive or something is great and I think it’s a very
collectible character and it will be a very collectible figure but just to
me it feels a little bit plain I know it has to be plain its supposed to be
playing it’s supposed to be drawn playing but I feel like it could have
used something more something to make it more classy let me know what you think
about that there’s just a feeling that I have about it that it’s not as good as
it as it could have been should have been I don’t even think it needed to
have like dual moulded anything it should be all black and I don’t think it
even needed printing on those sides of the the arms maybe printing on the sides
of the legs and just some finer details in the main the main print for the torso
is what I’m looking for just finer lines yeah that’s probably what I’m looking
for but anyway that’s where we get no alternate faces for any of these but you
do get a secondary print on the back of the regular Spiderman there you don’t
get the print going around the sides of the head there but that’s just how they
build things and that’s it for this set there are a lot of leftover pieces
though and most of those come from the accessory pack that includes the the
warheads that were used on the flick fire missiles like these and then you
get these different shaped ones that are more like grenades and you also get
these extra disks that are propeller or fan like and you can even shoot these
out of the disc launcher which also includes two extra regular plain disks
too bad those aren’t printed or anything but I think these make nice
substitutions so I would recommend actually using these instead just
because they’re cooler and that brings us to the we set the Spider Man mech and
what you’re looking at right here is everything included in the set except
for just a handful of little spare pieces I’ll show you later on so I’ve
got Spidey actually in the thing and in this case you definitely want to see
this as a mech unless you really are opposed to the idea of Spider Man using
a Mac in which case just you know forget about it but I mean it is canonical that
he is used to like you know stark tech suits and stuff so this isn’t that much
of a stretch is it plus there was one official spider-man Spidey Mac wasn’t
there but yeah basically this is trying to be
like a bigger version bigger mechanized version of him it has spinners in its
wrists and they have these nice little sub assemblies that by you to create
webs you can pull those off they don’t really fire off on their own
but you can also adapt them to use them on the hands of a regular minifigure if
you want I like the little shoulder details here with the smaller webs used
from the web blast set the spider arms around the back aren’t that cool to me
personally there are different ways you can pose them depending upon how you set
up these these joints so I could rotate this around this way bring this around
like so then I can bring it down so you can still create kind of a cage sort of
look for this if you wanted to I think if I brought it over here I can bring
this one up yeah there we go so I can bring it down around the yeah like that
and then these could be moved out the way you know just there are some
different things that you can do with this to change up its look I could fold
these back or just leave them off but otherwise this is built exactly the same
as the venom mech just with two arms rather than four it has the same sort of
orientations of the joints so you can really move these joints around quite a
bit and there are different ways you can kind of rotate things there are some
limitations a little bit more I’d say and the arms but still I mean you can
pretty much get these two angle just about anywhere you want see if I rotate
this around see I can bring that wrist all the way in you can shoot a web
across his body off to the side that is a sticker right
there these are stickers used down for the the toes if you will but once again
the centerpiece is using a print so that’s a print right there which is nice
to see you know the more prints we can get the better
oh one thing I did not sure here’s this this one has waist articulation that’s
that’s nice it’s convenient and I think it’s fun and just good to see once again
you just open up the front to get access to the figure we’ll take a closer look
at the figure I want to see if there’s anything else that I could really point
out about this I don’t think so that’s about it the only thing that bugs me a
little bit on this is what they’ve done with the the arms legs up above the
spider appendages but you can always leave those off I mean they’re just
attached from the sides with some axle pins just do like that if that makes you
feel better use these as weapons if you want in in some way you have to create
some traps or something or you can fire them off
you know you get some options it is Lego of course but I think overall this is
pretty well done for for what it is unless you just hate the idea of a
Spidey mech in which case just don’t get it so check this out
the Spidey in this set the spider-man mech set has the exact same head and the
exact same torso same arms same hands different legs this one does not have
the dual molded Lakes and that’s too bad this means you have to pay more to get
the one with the dual molded legs and I think it looks so much better with dual
molded legs now I personally am NOT like offended by the idea of the cheaper set
having a cheaper version of Spidey I just wish there was something else they
had chosen to do instead rather than withholding that that fan favorite thing
you know don’t take out dual molded legs don’t take out dual molded arms when
they’re appropriate but especially for a character like this I just think that
they might as well have just left in y’all made it identical even though then
you would have had to the same there’s not that much collectability value to
having a second set or having a separate set of just plain legs so yeah that that
is what it is you know and finally here are the spider-man mech sets spare
pieces which do include this one left over from the spiderweb a blast set
little accessory pack that’s just a pair of of spider silk handcuffs wait did I
show this completely from the back I forget if I did but right there you can
see the inclusion of a 2 by 2 inverted tile just finishes off the back of a
mech much better then what they did in the other set
where they left that completely open so I do wish they had included one extra
piece for this like they did for this let’s talk about value 152 pieces for
the spider-man next set cost ten bucks ten dollars u.s. not even considering
the pressed part ratio just looking at what you actually get here
I love the $10 price point I think that the 10 to 15 dollar price range is
really the Golden range for Lego where they need to put a lot of effort a lot
of emphasis because if they can put out things like this for 10 dollars they can
make a lot of kids around the world very very happy you know you can get
something that’s that’s fun that’s well detailed
that’s playable that looks cool just on display as well with especially with all
the poses that you can do with this and this is a series that they have for
these mechs that they’re doing I hope they will do more in the future even
even if some of them don’t necessarily make canonical sense they just are cool
and it’s a great price point to have products that are good on the Shelf for
that little and this is a pretty big box and a pretty big thing for a ten dollar
thing it’s too bad yeah it doesn’t have the dual molded legs there but I’m okay
with that I’ll give it a I’ll give it a pass
because this just feels like I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth of Lego worth
there now this thing okay at 371 pieces I actually had forgotten what the price
that I paid was cuz I was in a hurry to to just buy and you know get home and
start doing reviews and stuff and it’s always always the case but you know 371
pieces you expect this would probably be $40 u.s. you know just the way that Lego
goes does things these days and I was gonna say I don’t like $40 for this I
would rather it be 35 like 35 is is the highest that I’m willing to go to be
comfortable with it well they’re selling it for 30 3-0 and I am 100% good with
that for again the volume of stuff that you get here this is a little bit more
of a thing than the spider-man mech is putting those two side-by-side and
ignoring just this up here there there are a lot of pieces in this a lot of
small pieces and yeah trick I had to mention for this the build for this and
you can see the full builds for these I built the two sets in the same videos as
well I’ve got that real time build up on my pure builds channel speed build up on
my builds it channel but the builds for these are slower and more complex more
intricate than you would expect again for something that cost 10 bucks but the
point that I was making here is that this is simpler the Spiderman mech is
simpler than this venom max I feel like this venom mech has more than $10 worth
of value here and I think that spider-man make itself has at least that
value so more than 10 bucks worth there and then a total of three figures in
this set including this nice collectible one although it does not deserve any
extra value or or price bias just because it’s more collectible than any
of the others when Lego makes a thing it’s just a piece of plastic or a
collection of pieces of plastic and they do not have the right in my opinion
ethically to charge extra just because they think they can get extra for the
same amount of of plastic the figures that are here though are pretty good
this little thing is just an accessory you know tip to play around with but
when you consider the totality of what you get in this set with this volume of
stuff as well yeah I am I’m 100% good with the $30 price point for this whole
thing so I have no real complaints here I wish that some of this stuff in the
front was a little bit more sleek maybe some more aerodynamic surfaces or
something I do wish that the Spidey mech had the dual molded legs but overall I’m
pretty happy with what I’ve gotten out of this set very happy with what I’ve
gotten out of this set I think they go well together and I think you get a good
value with each or both check out one of the the builds if you’d like to if
you’re into any of that stuff and check out my social media accounts we are in
