SEM: A Mission of Innovation
[Music] Our founder, Leonard Rosen, actually started this company because there was a true need that he saw. The USS Pueblo was attacked. One of our ships was captured by the North Koreans. One of the problems that the people on the ship had was destroying data. The people on the ship were trying to destroy classified information and they couldn’t. So he had this idea to make a – what he started was from a plastics granulator – he turned that into paper disintegration. We came up with the disintegrator, and that in turn went to every government organization, Embassy, Federal Reserve, every branch of the government used our paper disintegrators. As time went on, of course, data morphed from being on paper to being on media – on IT media – and so we met that need as well. [Music] Cybersecurity focuses on software and making security safe in the cloud. What about the hardware side? If there’s data on a piece of media, we will destroy it. We destroy AI. We are protecting national secrets – secrets that American lives depend upon – and as a result we take that seriously. SEM has really an impeccable reputation. We’ve been in business for over 50 years. I think that speaks for itself. SEM represents quality, professionalism, and integrity. We constantly evaluate all of our products. Our guys take things out and do testing to the NSA level. If there’s a security regulation, we will meet it. Security is the number one requirement and and that’s what we’ve always focused on with our products. One of the great things here is that where a lot of companies are pushing manufacturing off overseas, SEM is bringing it back. We do all machining, we do our own design here, and we can proudly say things are actually made in the USA. We’re very much a family and have this incredibly collaborative atmosphere, absolutely built on teamwork. This is such an amazing place of smart – from customer service to marketing to sales – from engineering to service technicians. I enjoy the challenges. I enjoy the different aspects of the company. For me I consider it a family. We have talented, qualified people that really are passionate about what they do. Good people doing the right things for the right reason. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority here. I think that’s what sort of keeps us together and focused in on a common goal. Our level of service – nobody can beat that. We are the best company in the world that does what we do. No question about it.
